I always liked when it’s coauthored because the world is more developed in my opinion. It was really well written and you can’t tell it’s written by two authors. Honestly would I have picked this book up from a bookstore, probably not but I’m glad to have read this book.

The ending was well done too and I enjoyed how the story played out. I thought it was cute as it didn’t focus on romance a lot but mostly on the friendship part. It was very heavily based on friendship and how their relationship developed throughout the book. There are many side characters like Luna’s friends who I also enjoyed well expect one. She had a great character development and I enjoyed her story. She is fun and hispanic so there are a lot of hispanic references. The main character in this book is Luna and I enjoyed her character. Also there were a lot of modern day stuff used like TikTok so beware. I didn’t enjoy that as I’m not a fan of middle grade and seeing how it didn’t lean towards one or the other but it did focus on the thriller part. I do have to say that this book was in between middle grade and ya.

The pacing was fast and I enjoyed this world. I thought it was unique and something I probably would not have picked out on my own.

I wasn’t disappointed with this book and enjoyed the story plot line. I have read one of Shusterman’s past books and know they are popular in the sci-fi ya book world.
